Crushed 24 (EDITION)

In celebration of Scrapyard Abstraction, Machteld Rullens turns to a familiar material, making sculptures from cardboard boxes that have the same size as the book. Pigments and oil paint are rubbed into the cardboard protected by layers of resin. What was once soft turns into something sturdy. The box becomes a mirror and its bolts hold everything in place. Each piece slightly different ranging from playful spontaneity to methodical engineering.
